Tiana Robinson's Visual Identity
About Me

Tiana Robinson, a Canadian artist, was born in May Pen Jamaica, in 1990.
Her journey as an artist began at an early age, as she was always doodling in class, or at home. Her love for art was unmistakable for at the age of thirteen she was nominated to participate for a Leaf Dreams scholarship. The scholarship gave Tiana the opportunity to freely enroll in art classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario. This experience inspired her to delve fully into the art field, as she was constantly being exposed to instructors who were working artist themselves. Tiana attended C.W Jeffery’s Collegiate Institute where she was enrolled in their special arts program. It was here that she was introduced to the Modern Batik art, a form that was taken from Indonesia into East Africa in the 1960s. Batik Art involves the applying of simple outlines, light to dark dyes and using wax resist as the basis for separating colours. Tiana was a quick study and gained rapid recognition for her work, including the purchase of her best-known image, “The Nation of Mothers”, was bought by the City of Toronto and now hangs in the Mayor’s office. Tiana currently attends York Univerity and Sheridan College where she is presently majoring in Design and hoping to graduate with a Bachelors of Design.
